STLF-NA-TRD-REQ-0070 A SatLife network shall not mix RCSTs acting as bridge and RCST acting as

routers in the same VSN.

are present.

bridge mode.

STLF-NA-TRD-REQ-0100 The RCST on bridge mode shall forward (relay to another network) or drop

(discards) the frame based on the forwarding table entries. When the bridge

receives a frame, it compares the frame´s destination address with

addresses in the forwarding table, and one of the following situations results:

 If the frame´s destination address is on the same LAN segment as its

source address, the bridge discards the frame; all nodes on that LAN

segment already received this frame.

 If the frame´s destination address is on a different LAN segment than its

source address, the bridge forwards the frame to that LAN segment.

 If there is no match for the frame´s destination address in the forwarding

table, the bridge forwards the frame to all networks except the one that

received the frame.

 If the frame is destined for the bridge, the bridge forwards the frame to the

appropriate bridge entity and processes it internally.

ethernet priorities.

or router mode at power on (RCST provisioning parameter).

STLF-NA-TRD-REQ-0140 SatLife system should avoid RCSTs logs on the VSN that do not match the

mode the RCST is configured (bridge / IP router). The RCSTs shall mark the

RCST Class parameter in the RCST capabilities of the CSC message to

identify themselves as bridges or routers.

STLF-NA-TRD-REQ-0150 SatLife system shall not allow an RCSTs logging on in a VSN that do not

match the mode the RCST is configured (bridge / IP router). A VSN defined

in the system shall be marked as router or bridge type. If the NCC receives a

logon of a terminal whose RCST class mismatches the value of the VSN it

will log off the terminal.
